Our Story
SLO CAL Roots began in 2003 with the dream of creating the first integrated cannabis company in beautiful San Luis Obispo county. Founded by local cannabis growers Austen Connella and Kristen Kordich, SLO CAL Roots first began as SLO CAL Farms -a division of SLO CAL Roots that remains very much alive today.
Today we operate by four guiding principles; Plant, People, Passion, and Place. Cannabis is at the center of everything we do-the lifeblood of the SLO CAL Roots brand. People are central to our vibrant community, and it’s our People that make our brand unique. Our Passion for plant medicine is what drives us forward, get us up in the morning, and keeps us going late into the night. And the Central Coast is the Place we choose to call home -for all its rugged beauty and optimal growing climate.

Our Farm
Warmed by the California sun and cooled by gentle ocean breezes, our farms are nestled within the gentle embrace of the rolling hills and valleys of the Central Coast. Our cannabis farms thrive because of the unique terroirs of the region where the marriage of sun, soil, and soul creates a fertile symphony for cannabis cultivation. It’s not just farming, it’s our roots.
Born as second-generation cannabis farmers on the Central Coast, Austen and Kristen blend legacy and innovation, producing strains with unparalleled flavor, potency, and purity. With roots deep in the rolling hills of south San Luis Obispo County, our flagship family farm is one of the first in SLO to become fully permitted for both medical and recreational production.
SLO CAL Roots continues to explore the Central Coast’s nutrient-rich terrains, expanding into the extraordinary cultivation opportunities of the Los Osos Valley, Nipomo, and Paso Robles. Unwavering in our commitment to sustainable production, every product is a testament to nature sun-grown from clones or seeds, nurtured in 100% custom- mixed organic living soil, quenched by spring water, delicately cured, and hand-trimmed by artisans. SLO CAL Roots stands for unmatched product purity, and we stand firm against the use of pesticides and growth hormones.
Through farming we touch lives through across the Central Coast through farm tours, community outreach, and advocacy. We are champions for the plant’s acceptance, and for our patients who deserve nothing less than our finest effort. And we are committed to sun-grown cultivation in our own proprietary mixture of organic oils.
